Welcome to the Baddie Brief!

Welcome to the first issue of The Baddie Brief!

This newsletter is my way of staying connected with you beyond the podcast, the posts, and the events. Twice a month, I'll share what I'm learning, what I'm navigating, and the lessons I think are worth passing on. I'm glad you're here!

đź’ŚLetter from Quinesha

I just didn't want to. And I didn't feel bad.

This year, I got married and came back to Be a Better Baddie, and she isn’t the same. When I got engaged, my best friend asked me, “How are you going to juggle Be a Better Baddie, work, dance, and wedding planning?!” I didn’t think it would be that difficult because I’ve always been the queen of planning, productivity, and processes.

But as wedding planning progressed, I started to notice the growing gap between me and Be a Better Baddie. Fewer podcast episodes were being published, the YouTube videos slowly transitioned from vlogs to sit-down videos, to audio-only with a static image, and I ultimately deactivated my Be a Better Baddie Instagram.

While I was in the thick of wedding planning, I realized that the growing distance between me and BaBB wasn’t about time. I had the time to do a little something- I just didn’t want to. And I didn’t feel bad. Is that bad? This brand that I’ve invested so much time, effort, and energy into was fading, and I was okay with it. Because I knew that the problem was actually alignment.

I knew that after I got married, I wanted to come back and build Be a Better Baddie into something that I was proud of and had grown with me. As if the universe could read my thoughts, I came across a new program from She Can Work (a community for women building businesses), called “The Lab”. In The Lab, I tested my assumptions, defined the problems my customer was facing, and decided whether and how to move forward with intention. From there, the Baddie Circle was born. I interviewed women who were my ideal customers and asked them what they really struggle with. And it wasn’t what I was putting down- it was accountability. It was follow-through.

This type of clarity is exactly what I needed to be realigned with my brand and feel re-energized to promote it. Now Be a Better Baddie supports driven, goal-focused women who are invested in their development but struggle with consistency and follow-through by providing accountability groups that help them accomplish their goals 🌟

So What, What Now?

Sometimes walking away from something that you want so badly is the best thing to do. If you don’t feel the commitment or drive- that may be the time for you to step away and re-evaluate your approach. You don’t have to let it go completely, but you need to look at it with a fresh perspective. What do you need to step away from in your life to allow a reframe to happen?

Some of you may read my story and think that it’s a comeback or a “failure to success” trope, and it’s not. It’s a story about alignment. Instead of pushing through with something that didn’t feel like me anymore, I paid attention to my natural signals and trusted that I’d come back to it.

Anything that you pursue should be aligned with who you are at that moment. Not who you were in the past or who you hope to be in the future.

Whatever you find yourself being resistant to, think about the alignment and how you can reframe your relationship with it.

My question for you: What are you currently pushing through that might actually be asking YOU to pause?

I’ll leave you with my favorite quote from this newsletter. “Anything that you pursue should be aligned with who you are at that moment. Not who you were in the past or who you hope to be in the future."

Happy July Baddies! I’m so excited about today because the Baddie Circle starts tonight 🥳 We’re always accepting new members, so let me know if you want to join! 💌Letter from Quinesha What’s the cost of not achieving your goals? Most of the goals that we set aren’t survival goals, and that’s the problem. You not running that half-marathon doesn’t affect the food on your table. You not starting that podcast doesn’t take away your paycheck. You not building that business, not getting that...

💌Letter from Quinesha My birthday was this past weekend, and I had a blast! I went to the beach (I’m not a Galveston hater), ate my favorite oysters and crawfish, sang my heart out at karaoke, and ate a lot of cake. I’m a recovering birthday girl-aholic. I’d claim an entire weekend of everyone’s life, with a specific agenda, and even daily themes! Those were definitely some memorable celebrations, but over the past few years, I’ve started viewing my birthday as less of a spectacle I need to...

It's my birthday weekend 🎂, I'll share some bits about it next week. I know that there was a glitch in last week’s newsletter, and I’ve taken care of it this week! 🤓 Let's get into the Baddie Brief. 💌Letter from Quinesha Not all feedback deserves a reaction. Here's how I filter it. I got some feedback recently that didn't sit right with me. Not because it was too harsh (sidenote- I was shocked that this person felt so comfortable delivering the feedback like that). But it wasn't true! And if...
